Government implements a new, more realistic gas mileage test for 2008
cars. |
|
New 2008 models sold in the U.S. will
undergo new gas mileage testing and feature a new
fuel
economy label. The new test is designed to more accurately
measure fuel economy by modifying driving conditions and driver
characteristics to more accurately reflect how people actually drive.
The new test results in most fuel economy ratings dropping 15%-25% from
the old rating. Hybrid cars and trucks are hit particularly hard.
